Residents of Mwongorisi village in West Mugirango, Nyamira County were left in a rude shock after used condoms were found disposed in illicit brew famously known as 'kangara'.
Confirming the incident area assistant chief Ezekiel Rioba said he stormed Peter Nyakang'i's home with Nyumba Kumi officials to destroy illicit brew only to find over 100 condoms disposed in the illicit brew.
"I received a tip-off from members of the public that Nyakang'i's home has turned to be a chang'aa den and stormed there early in the morning to destroy the liquor. I was shocked to see used condoms soaked in the illicit brew," he said.
The chief said Nyakang'i and his wife escaped arrest.
"We managed to arrest Nyakang'i's son who threatened to attack us while we were destroying the liquor. The crackdown on illicit brew must continue to flush out illegal business people," he added.
According to the chief, some locals are taking advantage of festive season to engage in illegal business.
"Christmas celebration doesn't mean people should engage in dubious businesses. I am not ready to be sacked because some few individuals are selling, making and distributing chang'aa," he stated.
