The Nairobi governor revealed that he had been jailed at the notorious Mombasa prison over a land dispute.

Sonko had bought a piece of land and agreed with the owners on the amount.

The land situated along the coastal beach was to cost Sonko Sh4 million.

However, before he could occupy it, another person (from Germany) came asking for it.

The German wanted to construct a beach hotel and that land was at a good place for him.

They agreed with Mike Sonko, and the German man was to pay Sonko Sh8 million.

Trouble began when the family that had sold Sonko the piece of land realized that he had also sold it to a German man at a bigger price.

They reported him to the police claiming that Sonko had swindled them.

The police arrested Sonko.

Sonko told the police that he was just doing business and nothing wrong.

He said he had met the two clients at different times and he never knew the German client would come along.

Sonko produced legal papers which showed that he had conducted a fair deal with the two clients. He was later released having spent time at the Shimo La Tewa prison.
