The United Kingdom (UK) has pledged to support Kenya in the renewed war against corruption and terrorism.
According to the UK Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr Max Hill, the two countries will cooperate and collaborate in investigation and prosecution of corruption cases.
The UK DPP made the remarks when he paid a courtesy call to his Kenyan counterpart Noordin Haji on Thursday.
The two DPP's jointly held discussions before later meeting Chief Justice (CJ) David Maraga and UK ambassador to Kenya Nic Hailey.
“DPP England and Wales Max Hiil, QC called on @ODPP_KE Noordin Haji in his office today where the duo discussed a range of issues including enhanced cooperation and collaboration in investigation and prosecution of corruption and terrorism cases,” Haji’s office tweeted on Thursday.
The collaboration and partnership between UK and Kenya is expected to heighten the renewed war on corruption.
Last year, Haji hired UK Queen's Counsel (QC) Khawar Qureshi to prosecute Deputy Chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu’s alleged graft case.
Haji has vowed to work with other agencies in the criminal sector to confront the graft dragon.
Since taking over the DPP’s office, Haji has prosecuted high profile cases in court involving top government officials and politicians.
The DPP has maintained that the war against graft is not targeting any individuals or communities but only those who have stolen taxpayers money and assets.
