The census enumerator, from Kigoto village in Homa Bay County intentionally refused to report to work.

According to Homa Bay County Commissioner Harman Shambi, the unnamed man failed to report to work and went on with his bodaboda business.

The commissioner added that the man was previously a bodaboda rider before being chosen to participate in the National Census 2019.

Shambi noted that the man was found transporting passengers when he was supposed to be enumerating residents in his area.

The police boss noted that the man was immediately replaced by a reserve enumerator to continue from where he left.

Surprisingly, the enumerator didn't do much work on the previous days.

According to Suba Deputy County Commissioner Kamau Maina, the man only enumerated in four households on Saturday night.

After that, he went back to his home to sleep. On Sunday, he covered only one household before returning home.

Maina revealed that on Sunday night, Suba South residents chased away the enumerator. Area administrator was forced to quell the situation.

The National Census exercise will end on August 31, 2019.
