The officers, who were 4 in number, arrived in a car and made their way into the university's administration block.

They are at the higher learning institution to investigate damning corruption claims carried in an expose that aired on Citizen TV on Sunday, sparking a public outcry.

"Four DCI officers have disembarked and are now moving towards the Maasai Mara University and are in the process of looking for important documents and to probe where the law was broken."

(Maafisa wanne wa DCI wameweza kushuka pale wakielekea katika maeneo ya shule hii ama chuo hiki cha Maasai Mara University ambapo wako katika hali ya kutafutatafuta stakabadhi na kuona sheria ilivunjwa wapi), " Citizen Television reported in its afternoon news bulletin.

The officers are expected to ask for a number of financial documents to help in their investigations.

Adversely mentioned in Citizen's expose is the university's vice chancelor Prof Mary Walingo.

The development will come as great news to a section of Kenyans who have been calling for the DCI to ensure that corrupt officials at the university are held to account.

Prof Walingo admitted that there was corruption at Mara University in a Facebook video that failed short of addressing claims that he was at the centre of the corruption racket.
