The meeting comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report at the Bomas of Kenya.

Ruto said that they discussed a wide range of issues at the local, regional and international levels. He noted that Kenya and Norway are committed to strengthening their bilateral ties for the sake of their economic empowerment.

"We are broadening and strengthening our economic and social ties as well as seeking support from the Kingdom of Norway in developing Kenya’s energy sector, improvement and management of our natural resources, and the protection of our environment," he said.

Ruto added that Kenya and Norway are ready to ink more deals to strengthen their bond saying that the Norwegian government has expressed its readiness to support Kenya in the fight to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) as the campaign gains momentum across the nation.

"We value the role played by Norway in furthering gender equality, advancing women empowerment, and elimination of early and forced marriages, and female genital mutilation in Kenya," he said.
