Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has challenged Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Keriako Tobiko to come clean on the conversation of Mau Forest as evictions looms.
In an a press conference in Nairobi on Sunday, Cheruyoit said that Tobiko should come forward to explain why the issue of the Mau has not been settled once and for all.
He claimed that Tobiko has not goodwill of Kenyans at heart, adding that he has not even planted a single shrub in the area.
“I challenge CS Tobiko to present before this country any documents that confirm that the exercise he is carrying out is a joint government decision... I can assure you there is none,” he said.
He also said that Tobiko should stop claiming that the process of conserving Mau Forest.
He also said that time has come for him to prove that he means well for this nation after he was given the mandate to conserve the forest.
“Tobiko claims that his interest is nothing but conservation of the Mau water tower, well that's a fair point but his logic should be put to a proper test,” he said.
The Mau issue has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters after eviction plans were revealed.
