Some 79 men and six women were on Monday arrested in Juja Sub-County for drunk and disorderly behaviour.
They were arrested from different areas of the region for breaching set regulations during a national holiday.
Speaking from his office, area OCPD SSP Isaac Thuranira said that area residents take advantage of national holidays and drink excessively.
He said, “This is a trend in the region over the past few years despite efforts to warn residents against bad drinking habits. Most of them were arrested in the morning hours being drunk and making noise in the area.”
Thuranira added that some of them were suspected to have taken chang’aa. He explained that some of those arrested were found as early as 6am and others were violent.
“Despite our warning before the long weekend against being drunk and disorderly, we managed to arrest those who broke the law. Those arrested will be in court on Tuesday,” said the police boss.
He explained that such crimes can be avoided if only people drink responsibly.
