ODM chairman John Mbadi said the DP did not invite the party’s MP for his visit.

“It should be clear that Ruto did not invite us, the leaders. The only message I got was from the county commissioner on Friday, when the visit was to be on Monday. So I don’t know at what point he thought about these visits. I think it was an afterthought,” Mbadi said.

Ruto was in Migori where he was received by Governor Okoth Obado and several former MPs from the region.

The absence of MPs from ODM raised eyebrows as Ruto and the party’s leader Raila Odinga have been engaging in bitter exchanges over 2022.

The DP has left no doubt that he is ready to pay the price for his 2022 bid at a time his allies see Raila as the only hurdle standing between their man and the presidency.

Sources within political corridors have intimated that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s March 9 handshake with Raila caused jitters with his deputy’s camp.
