Gedi's name recently prominently featured in Parliament when MPs shot down a report that had highlighted the existence of contaminated and substandard imported sugar in the country when she was accused of bribing MPs with as little as Sh10,000 to disapprove the report.

She denied the bribery claims by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.

Gedi since being elected has had her influence growing not only in North Eastern region but also across the Coast where she enjoys a close association with leaders pushing for Deputy President William Ruto's presidency in 2022.

Some of these Coast leaders include Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Khatib Mwashetani (Lunga Lunga), Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) and Ali Mbogo (Kisauni).

The woman representative is in close association with Ruto and is expected to play an instrumental role in Ruto's campaigns particularly in North Eastern region - Garissa, Wajir, Marsabit, Isiolo and Mandera ahead of the 2022 general election.

Although she was voted through little known Party of Reforms and Development (PDR), there is a likelihood that she may defend her seat in 2022 on a Jubilee Party ticket or any other party that Ruto will contest for the presidency under.

The period between 2018 and 2022 now remains to determine who between Duale and Gedi will be the political kingpin of North Eastern.
