The week has ended on a high note for Peter Tabichi after two of his students were awarded Sh202, 000 Science prize awards in the US.

The two students, Esther Amimo Anyanzwa and Salome Njeri from Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School in Nakuru have put the nation on the world map after they scooped the award. 

The duo was feted for UN's Sustainable Development Goal Award following mentorship from the teacher.  The students had travelled to represent the nation in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday this week.

Tabichi said that such achievements were good for the nation as it seeks to promote innovation across different.

“Such participation boosts innovations as well as improve performance of STEM subjects,” he said.

The students had been handpicked from 10 other Kenyans to contest for the prize. 

Tabichi came into the limelight in March after he bagged the award that saw him named the best teacher in the world.  The Mathematics and Physics teacher received the award from Varkey Foundation. 

He travelled to Dubai where he was given the award before he came back. He has since dedicated his efforts towards education. He has been an inspiration to many students in the nation as well as teachers.

Tabichi had the privilege of meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta after winning the award.
