The truce dubbed 'handshake' has been met with rejection from forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto, under the Tanga Tanga outfit.

However, the eleven MPs from Luo Nyanza on Sunday warned that such actions are undermining the two leaders in their attempt to reunite the nation, adding that they will not allow their colleagues to push the nation into anarchy.

Nyando MP Jared Okello said that no amount of opposition will suppress the handshake, stating that it lacks a reverse gear.

"The handshake has no reverse gear. From Busia to Lunga Lunga and from Nyeri to Todonyang, Kakamega to Isebania, the chorus is peaceful co-existence," he said at the Nomiya Church in Kisumu on Sunday.

Area Woman Representative Rozah Buyu also warned the Tanga Tanga side against its attacks on Raila, in line with the spirit of the handshake, as well as the President.

"They should also stop firing salvos at the President and Raila," she said.

Others leaders present were MPs Shakeel Shabbir (Kisumu East), Martin Owino (Ndiwa), Ongondo Were (Kasipul), Peter Masara (Suna West) and Eve Obara (Kasipul Kabondo).

Others were Tom Kajwang (Ruaraka), Olago Aluoch (Kisumu West) and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo.

The critics have been accusing Raila of banking on the truce to peddle confusion into the party, with the intention of breaking it and blocking Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions.
