Interior Cabinet Secretary has broken silence on his latest intense political events around the country.
The CS who spoke to Nation cleared the air noting that he has not been involved in any political event rather than development agendas he has been mandated to do.
"I have not been involved in any political activity. I have been engaged in development activities, pure and simple,” he said.
He, however, admitted that he is aware of those endorsing him to vie for presidency come 2022 and he cannot gag them because that is one of the freedom enshrined in our constitution.
"But in doing this, I have been in the company of political leaders and I have heard them make those comments. I can’t say anything about that now. But we live in a democracy and there is freedom of expression. I can’t gag anyone," added Matiang'i.
Matiang'i further added that his engagement with both political leaders and Kenyans is because his docket entails collaboration.
“The President has given me a specific assignment, that is what I am doing. But I can’t do it alone. I have to work with wananchi and leaders,” he added.
