A section of Kilifi MCAs have lauded the ODM National Executive Committee (NEC) for the recommendation to expel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori from ODM.
Led by Kakuyuni MCA Nickson Muramba, the leaders on Friday said that the duo deserve to be sent packing for what they termed as a betrayal to the party. The move came after the two backed Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
The MCAs said that they want a by-election in the respective constituencies in order to embarrass the two leaders, who they said have been a thorn in the flesh of former Prime Minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
On his part, Jilore ward MCA Charles Chiriba said that they back the handshake but it does not mean the ODM leaders have the mandate to support Jubilee in any way.
“This is the moment we were waiting for and despite taking time, the decision has now been made and we are going to wait for her (Aisha) to come down and be embarrassed in the by-election,” Muramba told the Standard.
Jumwa and Dori have maintained that they will not be shaken by the decision to expel them from the party.
