Yatta MP Charles Kilonzo has told Deputy President William Ruto to stop relying on votes from Mt. Kenya region alone for his 2022 presidential bid.
Kilonzo said the region can never be relied on hence the need for him to form political alliances all over the country.
He spoke during a meet the people tour at Kithimani market in Yatta, Machakos County on Sunday.
"Mr. Ruto should stop relying on Mt Kenya votes and start forming alliances all over the country if his 2022 presidential bid is to be realized," Kilonzo said.
Kilonzo said the region lied to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka during the retired president Mwai Kibaki's regime that they would give him the presidency, a promise they never kept.
"Mt. Kenya has never been reliable. During Mwai Kibaki's tenure, they promised our son Kalonzo Musyoka the presidency. A promise that never materialized. Ruto should look for support and alliances in Ukambani, Nyanza, Coast and all over but should not keep lying to himself with the Mt.Kenya promises," Kilonzo added.
Kilonzo made the remarks following the ongoing fallout in the Jubilee political party stating the wrangles are tactics to betray the deputy president.
Ruto has been traversing the country to launch government projects and create a base for his 2022 presidential bid.
