The two went physical at the assembly’s cafeteria and the fight was widely covered in the media creating mixed reactions on social media.

In his Wednesday afternoon ruling on the matter, Nakuru County assembly Speaker Joel Maina Kairu said their act was in contrary to the constitution and the county assembly’s powers and privileges act.

“Committee observed that the honorable members acted dishonorably in the presence of other members, media, and other staff. They are therefore reprimanded, ordered to apologize to the house and are hereby suspended from the leadership and privileges of the house for 90 days and are also suspended for 1 month,” ruled Speaker Kairu.

As per the ruling, the duo will not be able to enjoy their privileges for 90 days as per the standing orders.

They are further suspended from county assembly proceedings for one month.

Other members who are faced with disciplinary action for misconduct are MCAs Anne Kimani, Douglas Ayebei, Catherine Kamau, and Susan Njuguna.

However, there was drama immediately after the ruling.

MCA George Machoka stood on a point of order and said the ruling was in contrary to the standing orders.

“Mr. Speaker, the ruling is in contrary to the standing orders and rules of the house and I am calling for nullification of the same,” Machoka said.

However, the Speaker remained adamant stating that the ruling had been made.

“Order Hon Machoka. I have listened to you and I am going to make a ruling on the same tomorrow morning but the ruling on the misconduct of members remains…cannot be revoked,” said Speaker Kairu.
