The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has released a report on fatalities that ococcurred on city roads from January 1st and August 19, 2019.
According to the report published by the Daily Nation, Nairobi county leads other areas in Kenya with 275 deaths in this period.
Mombasa Road and Outering Road are the most dangerous roads to use in Nairobi.
Mombasa Road claimed 27 lives while Outering Road caused lose of 23 lives making them the two killer roads in Nairobi.
Thika Road and Waiyaki Way also recorded 18 deaths each. Kangundo Road follows with 16 cases while Eastern Bypass and Jogoo Road claimed 12 lives each.
Additionally, 19 fatalities were recorded on Juja Road.
Mwiki-Kasarani, Enterprise, Northern Bypass and Kang'ata roads accounted for three deaths.
The Airport North Road had nine lives claimed while Murang’a Road, the Southern Bypass, Ngong and Forest roads witnessed four people dying.
Other five people died on Kiambu Road.
The report also revealed that private vehicles lead in causing fatalities followed by unknown cars.
Public service vehicles, commercial vehicles and motorcycles follow respectively.
Government vehickes are also on the list followed by pedal cycles.
Tuk Tuks are the safest means of transport as they recorded only one death as was the case with hand carts.
Kiambu, Machakos and Nakuru counties are other regions with high road deaths.
