Embakasi East MP Paul Onjili popularly known as Babu Owino will have a benefit of sleeping on a brand new heavy-duty mattress during his stay at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
Babu Owino will get the privilege courtesy of his colleague Starehe legislator Charles Kanyi popularly known as Jaguar.
The musician-turned-politician on Tuesday announced he will donate 200 mattresses to the city remand prison, and directed one of them should be given to Babu Owino who is at the facility.
Jaguar said his move was a gesture of goodwill and was informed by his desire to make remandees' lives at the prison easy.
"Today I will donate over 200 mattresses to Industrial Area Prison, Starehe. I believe that remandees should be as comfortable as possible as they await the outcome of their cases. My colleague, Hon. Babu Owino, will benefit from one of the heavy-duty mattresses," Jaguar tweeted.
Babu Owino was remanded for seven days after the court denied him bail.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted murder on Monday
The MP is being accused of shooting Felix Orinda also known as DJ Elove on Friday, last week, at B-Club in Kilimani.
The youthful legislator has remained unbowed saying being imprisoned was part of 'occupational hazards' in leadership.
"A politician must always prepare for the following occupational hazards: Must be prepared to serve his people, Must be prepared to go to jail, Must be prepared to take an asylum, Must be prepared to Die and Must be prepared to enjoy," Babu Owino said.
