Meru Senator Mithika Linturi’s estranged wife Marianne Kitany is ready to go an extra mile to prove to the court that she was indeed married to the lawmaker.

On Wednesday, Kitany said that she gifted the mother of the lawmaker with a Nissan X-trail because of the love they shared with him. 

She also recounted how the senator paid sh.100,000 bride price to seal their union in accordance with both the Nandi and Meru cultures. 

The Former chief of staff at Deputy President William Ruto’s office told  chief magistrate Peter Gesora  that the senator was in the company of 19 other persons when he arrived at her place for dowry negotiations.

She alleged that the senator arrived with two groups in two vehicles from his hometown in Igembe in Meru came in two vehicles. 

She said that she decided to gift the mother the said vehicle because the daughter was no longer going to be available for her and she needed someone to assist her with home chores. 

“He told my mother that she could use the vehicle to go shopping, fetch water from the river and run errands because her daughter would no longer be available to do the job,” she said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

She said that the event went down at the Kapchemosin village in Nandi South where they marked the beginning of their marriage. The case was adjourned to August 28 pending further probe into the matter.
