The ex-lawmaker appeared before the sleuths to shed more light on the matter after she was mentioned among other 18 suspects who include her husband.

Ongoro reportedly had a hand in the embezzlement of Sh48,907,826 constituency funds after it emerged that the project had stalled even after the cash was disbursed to the responsible parties.

Ongoro and her co-accused have been asked to respond to accusations of abuse of power and misuse of their offices.

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak has confirmed to the media that the detectives are digging deeper into the matter to ascertain how the funds were utilised.

“The Commission conducted investigations and established that the school does not exist and that payments were made to different individuals and companies associated to the National Government Constituency Development Fund (CDF) patron and committee members,” EACC said.

In the case, procurement laws were not followed properly before the tender was awarded. Ongoro has since maintained that she is innocent.  Ongoro surrenders to EACC in Sh48 million saga
