Deputy President William Ruto’s countrywide tours have continued to elicit mixed reactions from various different camps.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies opine that Ruto is derailing Jubilee government’s development agenda by engaging in early campaigns.
Ruto’s allies, however, maintained that he has done nothing wrong by touring various parts of the country to initiate development projects as expected of his office. Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro insists that Ruto is often misunderstood.
He noted that the remarks of the second in command hinting at hitting the campaign trail have been misunderstood.
He maintained that Ruto, who is considered as one of the front runners in the race for power, respects the Head of State.
“Right from the bottom his heart, the DP is a man who respects his boss and it is in his and our best interest to work with President Kenyatta and face the coming elections as a team with him,” the legislator told Daily Nation.
The remarks come after Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki asked Ruto to resist President Kenyatta’s call to stop early campaigns.
The senator said that Ruto should not expect to win the contest for power if he is not ready to start campaigns.
He challenged the DP to prove to the voters that he is the right man for the job.
