Speaking on Radio Jambo on Thursday evening, Khalwale noted that he is solely opposed to Raila’s latest political moves, mostly his March 9 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Terming the move a betrayal to the millions of voters who supported the opposition in the August 8, 2017 general election, he pointed out that nothing personal stands between him and the veteran politician.

‘’Wakati huu sikubaliani na Raila maana alisaliti watu zaidi ya milioni saba kupitia ile salamu yake na Rais Uhuru. Hadi sasa hatujui walichokiongelea. It’s nothing personal.

(I find it hard to agree with Raila solely because of his betrayal of opposition supporters via his handshake with the President, with the actual agenda and agreements of the truce remaining unknown to most of us),’’ he said.

The former Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful added that Raila’s move had paralysed the opposition, hence the Jubilee government’s worsened leadership.

He as well blamed the same on the recent increment of petrol price by 8 per cent, noting that the two collaborated in pushing the heavily opposed amendment through, on the floor of the National Assembly.

‘’Ameua upinzani. Tungekuwa na upinzani bila ya salamu mambo yangekuwa tofauti hata bungeni. Tunachoomba kwa sasa ni eti wote wawili waondoke ili tupate viongozi wapya.

(The handshake has killed the opposition. What we now hope is that both Raila and Uhuru exit the political arena to give room for new leadership),’’ he added.
