A section of Members of Nandi County Assembly (MCAs) has told Nandi senator Samson Kiprotich Cherargei to stop meddling in county affairs and instead focus on national issues.
Speaking at an event in the county on Thursday, the MCAs led by their majority leader Fred Kemboi wondered why a well-educated man like Cherargei would stoop so low by trying to spread rumours of how the county government has laid off workers and also the way they are issuing bouncing checks to institutions within the county.
Kemboi was specific on his advice to Cherargei, telling him to ensure that he avoids issues touching on the governor and his deputy and instead concentrate on those concerning President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The MCAs also defended governor Stephen Sang and his deputy's records, saying they mean well for the electorate, unlike the senator whose work is rumour-mongering.
Cherargei has been providing checks and balances to the county government to ensure that services are delivered appropriately to the citizens and corruption is kept at bay.
"Imagine he is a lawyer and he likes spreading too much propaganda then you begin to doubt his educational credentials," noted the MCA.
"I am telling you (Cherargei) to keep an eye on the president and his deputy and leave us alone. In fact, you are the chairperson of Legal and Constitutional Affairs committee in Senate and so focus on issues of national importance," he added.
