Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata has laughed off Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's recent remarks that the Mt Kenya region is ready to support ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The county boss made the remarks during an interview on KTN's Point Blank on Wednesday, remarks Kang'ata on Saturday refuted, terming them baseless and personal.
He said that the job of declaring the region's way forward lies in the hands of President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the Central Kenya kingpin, rubbishing anything else as mere opinion.
He addedthat Uhuru has not made any such declaration yet, during a free medical camp in Kamukabi Primary School in Kigumo, where he told leaders to concentrate on beneficial issues.
"The views expressed by the governor of Kirinyaga are personal, those of us who come from the region are waiting to hear what President Kenyatta will tell us.
He has not told us to support anyone and therefore Ms Waiguru’s views are personal and not do not represent the views of the President,” said the Senate Deputy Majority Chief Whip.
Waiguru's vows to unite the region came at time when area leaders are torn between supporting Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto, who is keen on succeeding Uhuru in 2022.
