Lawyer Miguna Miguna's latest woes are deliberately made by the country's top political players to prevent his return to Kenya, political analyst Martin Andati has said.
Miguna's hopes to land in Kenya today were on Tuesday thwarted after he was ejected from a Nairobi-bound Air France, after the Kenyan authorities reportedly issued a red alert.
Andati says that this could be part of the plan to prevent him from returning to Kenya, by politicians who feel threatened by his return from Canada, where he was deported to in 2018.
He opines that Miguna's fearless attacks on the government make him look like a saviour, especially now that Kenyans are grappling with tough economic times, which President Uhuru Kenyatta's government is finding uncomfortable.
"Words have their weight and he has been making weighty remarks, especially now that Kenyans are angry due to the economy. He says what Kenyans feel no one is saying (Maneno yana uzito. Yale anasema ni mazito hasa wakati huu ambao wakenya wamekasirika kwa maneno ya uchumi. Anasema yale wakenya wanaona hakuna yule anasema)," he said.
He made the remarks in an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Wednesday morning.
He also linked Miguna's woes to ODM boss Raila Odinga's dalliance and Uhuru, stating that Miguna is a threat to Raila's influence.
According to him, Miguna seems to fit well in the opposition leader position that Raila left to reconcile with Uhuru last year, which would destabilize Raila's ground support.
Therefore, he thinks that Raila could be in support of Miguna's alleged barring from returning to Kenya, hence the silence from Raila's quarters regarding his troubles.
"He has taken over from Raila, and also has the courage that can make him fill the vacant opposition leader post (Tangu Raila aondoke amechukulia hapo. Pia ako na courage na huenda akajaza lile pengo la upinzani,") he added.
Surprisingly, the red alert was issued after the government declared that Miguna is free to return, as long as he has the required documents.
