According to the police, Ambrose Nesta Makokha arrived at the Industrial Area Police Station in Nairobi on Tuesday, demanding to question a detainee at the station.

The man, 32, is said to have identified himself as an officer from the National Intelligence Service  (NIS) and ordered that the suspect be availed for him.

The NIS says that he also ordered the station OCS to give a directive to enable him access the suspect and even provided his identification card which was later found to be fake.

NIS officers were later called in and arrested him, and his identification card held as exhibit set to be used against him when arraigned before a court of law.

"The Fake NIS ID he produced was confiscated & kept as exhibit," the Directorate said, according to the Citizen Digital.

In April this year, another man was also arrested for masquerading as a police officer, and was in the process of arresting a hawker in Nairobi when police officers pounced on him.

Samuel Mbugua Wainaina was arraigned in court after also being found in possession of handcuffs and was released on bond by Milimani Principal Magistrate Francis Andayi.
