West Pokot governor John Lonyang'apuo was in his element when he made a request to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The county boss pleaded with the president to reserve the best part of the oil windfall to Turkana, using the cow ribs analogy to drive his point home.
His request was so hilarious that it plunged the head of state into a state of into a state of laughter.
The governor, who is popular for his comical remarks, contended that his county deserved the best part of the deal because it is the people of Turkana who had offered security for the trucks transporting the oil.
"By the way my brother from Turkana when he was talking did not mention that it is the people of West Pokot who provided security for the trucks that transported oil (By the way ndugu yangu kutoka Turkana vile alikuwa anaongea hapa hakutaja na hakusema kwamba wale wametupea security ya kutosha kwa hiyo trucks ni watu ya West Pokot kwa hivyo sisi tunangoja mbavu), the West Pokot county boss said, leaving the president in stitches.
The county boss spoke on Monday as president Uhuru Kenyatta flagged off oil worth 1.2 billion shillings at the port of Mombasa.
