There was a glitch in major social media sites on Wednesday evening. Users of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram were dealt a major blow after the sites failed to respond in viewing and downloading images and videos.
The sites' technical problem affected many people who use them as their source of income and communication. This glitch affected users globally including Kenyans who are arguably 'mad fans' of social media.
The glitch that started at around 3 pm made it hard for users to access various functionalities of these sites.
However, unlike the three sites, Twitter remained working well and had no glitch. Many took their frustrations to Twitter.
Facebook and Instagram later assured their billions of users that the problems will be resolved within the shortest time possible.
"We are aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps. We are sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible," wrote Facebook and Instagram.
As promised, the issue was resolved.
"Earlier today, some people and businesses experienced trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps and platforms. The issue has since been resolved and we should be back at 100% for everyone. We're sorry for any inconvenience," posted Facebook.
