A battery of lawyers allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga have formerly taken the case in which Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu is facing criminal charges.
On Tuesday, Mwilu was arrested by the chief detective DCI George Kinoti following recommendation by DPP Noordin Haji.
And hours after recording statements at Kiambu DCI headquarters, she would be arraigned in Milimani law courts.
Interestingly, her arrest could take a political shape like that witnessed during the closely contested presidential elections in Supreme Court last year.
Lawyers James Orengo, Okong'o Mogeni, Dan Maanzo, John Khaminwa, Nelson Havi and to a lesser extent activist lawyer Harun Ndubi had taken the case.
Mr. Mogeni, Orengo, Maanzo and Khaminwa, besides being involved in active opposition cases, represented Raila in Supreme Court.
Mrs. Mwilu, the third DCJ in the country, is accused of receiving bribe, abusing her office, and evasion of tax.
She is a wife to long time Attorney General Amos Wako who also doubles as Busia Senator.
