Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane hosted a delegation from Ethiopia's Somali Regional State comprising of elders and government officials on a comparative peace learning visit at a Garissa hotel this week.
The embattled governor shared details of the high-profile meeting on his Facebook page.
"The delegation that is on 5 day visit to Kenya are meeting clan elders from Garissa County to learn the local contexts of peace reconciliation mechanisms," the post read in part.
According to Korane the meeting was aimed at unlocking solutions to the security challenges in Garissa County that grapples with inter-clan conflict.
"The Jigjiga delegation that is led by Garaad Kulmiye Garaad Mohamed Garaad Doll Garaad Wiilwaal and Ethiopia's Somali Regional State Minister for Conflict Resolution and Border Affairs Ahmed Abdulle had met the National Steering Committee for Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC) to understand the national structures for peace and reconciliation before coming here to learn the local contexts," the post continued.
Al-Shabaab has been accused of capitalising on inter-clan conflicts to spread terror.
