The widow and lover of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth have finally agreed on the paternity of the kid left behind by the lawmaker.
The two, Monica Okoth and Anne Thumbi have agreed that Ken sired the child outside his marriage before his demise.
The duo recorded a statement with the court agreeing on the DNA results that showed Ken was indeed the father of the child in question.
The agreement comes weeks after Monica disputed the outcome of the exercise. She later promised to release the results from her pathologist in a month’s time.
Lawyer Danstan Omari representing the mother of the child has confirmed that the two sides have now agreed not to file any other case in regard to the child after the death of the lawmaker. They also agreed to ensure that the child benefits from the resources left behind by the deceased lawmaker.
“The next question is to decide what are the entitlements of the child under the succession law. We will move to the High Court to get school fees and medical cover for the child,” said Mr Omari, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The two women have been at loggerheads since Okoth succumbed to cancer. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had confirmed that he was aware Ken had a child out of wedlock.
