A section of Uasin Gishu political leaders have congratulated Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich following his appointment as Bishop of Eldoret Diocese.
The position was left vacant on 30th October 2017, following the death of Rt. Rev. Cornelius Korir.
Since the demise of Bishop Cornelius Korir, Kitale Diocese Bishop Maurice Anthony Crowley has been steering the Diocese as a caretaker Bishop.
However, on Saturday, Pope Francis appointed Kimengich Bishop of Eldoret Diocese, moving him from Lodwar Diocese, where he was serving before the appointment.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Saturday, political leaders said Kimengich is the right person to continue with the work Bishop Korir had started.
"Congratulations Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich for being appointed the Bishop of Eldoret Diocese. The reward of serving the Lord is beyond human imagination, I am certain that you will drive the Diocese to greater heights from where the late Bishop Cornelius Korir left," said Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago.
"As leaders from the region, we have faith with Bishop Kimengich and we hope he will be in the forefront in preaching peace. We wish him well in his endeavours," Kapseret legislator Oscar Sudi said.
Uasin Gishu County Assembly speaker also congratulated Bishop Kimengich urging him to continue with the legacy Bishop Korir left.
