Kiambu-based politician Gladys Chania has continued to maintain she is innocent after she was charged last week at the Thika Law Courts with obtaining money by false pretence.
Chania pleaded not guilty to allegations that on diverse dates between April 2017 and 2018 within Thika Sub-County, she defrauded Eric Gathogo Sh199,000 and Martin Mwangi Sh200,000.
The court heard that Chania promised to help the complainants travel to the United States after making a down-payment.
However, Chania who is currently a community leaderand the proprietor of Right At Home Rehabilitation Centre in Thika has rubbished the allegations as 'mudslinging by paid-up bloggers and mainstream media'.
"When there are issues touching on your integrity, the best way is to give in and let justice to prove you right or wrong...that's exactly what I have decided after several social media mudslinging and most of them by paid-up bloggers up to the mainstream media. I have decided to face the law so that evidence or guilt can be proven," Chania says during an exclusive interview with Hivisasa.
She adds: "I don't want to live a hostage of unkind people who want to curtail my voice or duties to the community... courts are for justice. Kenyans, if anyone has an issue with you, face it other than live under the mercy of the mudslinging, with malicious people trying to pull your brand down."
Chania has at the same time advised anyone with further questions and concerns to contact her lawyer Irungu Gathii noting that she wants the issue handled procedurally by the court.
The case is set for hearing on October 8, 2019.
