An anti-radicalisation programme has brought together the youth of Kisumu county in a bid to dissuade them from engaging in violence.
The programme is the second to be held in the county with the first one having been held in 2018.
Speaking exclusively to Citizen Television on Tuesday Pamoja for Transformation executive director Stephen Kadenyo said that part of the forum's agenda was to ensure that the young people engage constructively with their leaders.
He noted scores of youths had joined gangs that were being used in criminal activities.
Many of those youths had opted to dispense with criminal behaviour and choose peace and constructive engagement.
"Most of these people are walking a transformation path. They are part of our process, they are part of this development, " Mr Kadenyo said. (5:06-5:13)
Kisumu has long been a vortex of post-election violence with law enforcement officers engaging in running battles with protesters.
The latest episode of post-election violence to rock the county was in 2017 after the disputed presidential election whose repetition the residents boycotted.
The Pamoja for Transformation executive director said that the handshake between erstwhile political adversaries President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) leader Raila Odinga had helped in bringing about peace in the county.
