Renowned lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has praised the tactics being employed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji in the renewed fight against graft.
Lawyer Abdullahi notes that the strategy by the DPP is effective and could help in the fight graft corruption.
“I think the strategy deployed by the DPP Noordin to arrest and charge high level government officials is as EFFECTIVE as conviction and imprisonment of these high priests of corruption,” the flamboyant lawyer tweeted.
In his tweet on Wednesday, Ahmednassir added, “DISRUPTING, SCUTTLING the NETWORK in the civil service and EXECUTIVE is CRITICAL and IMPORTANT.”
The lawyer praised to the DPP comes a day after National Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Rotich, his Principal Secretary (PS) Kamau Thugge and other suspects were arraigned in court over the multi-billion Arror and Kimwarer dams’ scandal.
Appearing before Milimani Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti, Rotich and his co-accused persons pleaded not guilty to graft charges among them abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud the government.
The court, however freed Rotich and his PS on Sh50 Million bond with one surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh15 Million each.
East African Community Principal Secretary Susan Jemtai Koech, former Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Managing Director and David Kipchumba Kimosop were also granted bail.
While granting bail, the court ordered CS Rotich and other suspects to deposit their passports in court and not to interfere with witnesses in the case.
The court also ordered the suspects not to go to their offices unless they are in company of the Investigating Officer (IO).
The case will be mentioned on August 8.
