Speaking during an anti-doping forum in Nairobi attended by elite athletes, the CS reaffirmed the commitment of Sports Ministry to ensure athletes who don the national colours are clean.

She said the law would be amended to criminalise doping.

"We are the process of amending the law to make sure that doping is criminalised, and so the whole entourage is also responsible to make sure that our athletes remain clean. We have told the few that they will not wear Kenyan colours when they leave the country and we will not want them to be part of our national team," the Sports CS said.

Ambassador Amina's words come in the wake of a damaging report that implicated a number of Kenyan athletes in doping.

Footage provided by German broadcaster ZDF appeared to show Kenyan athletes being injected with a performance enhancing drug.

"There is no doping done just before the race or any important competition, here they use EPO in training... From the current national team, I had eight runners [doping] with me," the physician told ZDF as quoted by DW news, a top news outlet in Germany.
