A top aide to Deputy President William Ruto has sensationally claimed that some unknown people had plotted to disrupt meetings organised on Friday in Nyamira.
The DP cancelled the Nyamira trip on Wednesday, two days before his expected tours to North Mugirango and Kitutu Masaba constituencies.
Mr David Ogwagwa, an intelligence officer in the DP's office, on Wednesday claimed that some meetings had been held with an aim of disrupting Friday's meetings.
"The DP's visit to Nyamira has been postponed until a later date. Our internal intelligence reports indicated that some people were planning to disrupt the DP's meetings. We are privy to meetings which have been held in secret places in Nbi,Sotik,Kisii and Migori ostensibly to cause chaos during the DP's meetings to depict a picture of the DP not being popular in Gusii.
"We want to ask the DP's Big Numbers of Supporters in Gusii Region to remain vigilant but peaceful in helping our Jubilee Gvt achieve the Big Four Flagship Projects by the Uhuruto Gvt.Tuko macho," he said in a text.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko confirmed the cancellation of the trip but did not give further details.
"We were expecting him on Friday but the trip has been cancelled. That's all I can say for now," Nyamoko said in a brief phone interview.
Similar remarks were made by Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, who said the trip will be rescheduled for another date.
"There is nothing to worry. The trip shall come at a later date. We were all hoping for this Friday but it's not possible for now," he said.
