In a rare meeting between the two Governors who have been pulling apart after the March 9 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga-Kingi and Joho’s political mentor, the duo promised to consolidate Coast unity ahead of the next general election.

The DP who has been making forays in the region in a bid to springboard his State House ambitions in 2022, may now be forced to go back to the political drawing board strategising on how to upset the status quo.

At one point, Kingi was claimed to be gravitating to Ruto’s political axis which saw his future in ODM become a matter of speculations.

However, after emerging on Wednesday following the long meeting that was also attended by the region’s MCAs, the Governor dispelled all the fears with Coast Party drive- an idea that Joho embraced.

With Kingi and Joho reunited, all the loopholes that the DP would have used to invade the region are now sealed.

Whatever happens, Ruto’s fate in Coast will depend on his move on the political chessboard.
