An angry woman working as a house help attacked her boss for allegedly denying her monthly salary.
The incident happened on Monday afternoon at Nyanchwa estate within Kisii town, Kisii County.
Zipporah Nyaboke attacked her boss, Emily Mogesa, a nurse over salary arrears. Nyaboke said she asked Emily to give her Sh14,000 salary arrears she owes her but, her boss refused to pay her the money.
“I have been working as a house girl at Emily’s house. She pays me a monthly salary of Sh5,000 but, for the last 4 months she has not been paying me the full amount until the arrears accumulated to Sh14,000,” said the angry maid.
Ms Nyaboke said her boss in the month of June promised that she was to pay the full arrears plus the July salary at once this month of August the promise she failed to honor.
“I attacked her because she refused to pay me my Sh14,000 arrears. She only paid me Sh5,000 July salary,” she added.
Area assistant chief, Widen Morang’a said Emily reported the assault to him.
“Yes, the incident was reported to my office but the house girl escaped after the attack," he said.
Mr. Morang’a called on residents hiring house helps to pay them monthly so that the salaries don’t accumulate to the extent of making them fail paying the maids who work tirelessly.
