Days after Makueni governor Kivuta Kibwana dismissed Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyokas's 2022 presidential bid, various leaders have come out to hit at him.
Mwingi North Member of Parliament Paul Nzengu has asserted that Kalonzo is the defacto Kamba leader who had earned himself a place in the national politics.
Speaking on Saturday at a fundraiser at Kitonyini secondary in Muumandu, Nzengu said the former Vice President is the recognised Kamba leader and urged the Kamba community to rally behind him.
He dismissed Kibwana's remarks citing that no Kamba leader can outdo Kalonzo.
"We don't want anybody attacking Kalonzo Musyoka. We have only one defacto Kamba leader. The small differences we have within ourselves are only serving to spoil our chances of getting the presidency," said Nzengu terming news about Kalonzo struggling to survive a political onslaught in Ukambani as fake and vague.
"It has been reported that Kalonzo is struggling to survive against an onslaught in Ukambani but I want to say that this is not true. There are some selfish people trying to send the wrong message. Kalonzo has no rivals in Ukambani," he added.
Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka who was also present urged Kalonzo to call for a meeting involving all Kamba leaders to forge a way forward.
On his part, Meru senator Mithika Linturi urged the Kamba community to unite stating that the Wiper party leader would never win the presidency with a divided community.
Last week, Kibwana poked holes into Kalonzo's presidential bid saying that his chances of being president were very slim.
