Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Elisha Odhiambo caused one of the major political upsets in Luo Nyanza after he defeated Jakoyo Midiwo in last year’s August 8th general elections.
Before the election proper, Odhiambo trounced Midiwo during the ODM party primaries.
Odhiambo garnered 13,400 votes against Midiwo’s 8, 900 during the primaries, forcing the latter to decamp from the party, and contest the seat as an independent candidate.
The current MP made history when he trounced Midiwo, Opposition Chief Raila Odinga's cousin, who was also a senior member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The Gem MP holds an Executive Master of Science in Organisational Development from the United States International University, a post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Personnel Management, a post graduate certificate in Training Management from the Institute of Brugge, Belgium, and a Bachelor of Education Arts from Kenyatta University.
Before joining politics, he worked for various organizations including; Family Health International and Price Water house Coopers.
In the National Assembly, he is a member is a member of the departmental committee on energy,and service and facilities committee.
