According to Mikuyu assistant chief Peter Ngovu, the thieves targeted the home with an intention to steal livestock.

However, the guards and workers at the home raised alarm by whistling making it hard for the thieves to execute their plan.

He noted that they were armed with pangas, metal bars among other weapons.

He observed that after their plan to steal failed, they attacked four workers in the homestead.

"After they failed to steal livestock from the homestead they attacked the workers who had raised alarm to ask for help using metal bars and pangas," said Ngovu.

One of the workers died on the spot while the other died on the way to the hospital.

The third one escaped with injuries while another escaped unscathed.

"They were four, two died, one injured while the other escaped unhurt, "he said.

Ngovu said police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. The injured worker is receiving treatment at Machakos Level Five Hospital while the bodies of those who died were moved to the same hospital mortuary for preservation.
