Increased number of ladies enrolling for studies at the various learning institutions in Kisii is prompting to the increase in prostitution in the area according to the OCS Kisii Central police station Eliud Kimwele.
Kimwele said prostitution is at its peak in Kisii town because most female students have invaded streets in town for commercial sex.
"Commercial sex business is on the rise in Kisii town due to the increased number of ladies studying in various institutions who have ventured into the sex trade," he said.
"Parents should follow up on their daughters who have been enrolled in various learning institutions in town to know whether the school fees they are paying is useful. Ladies during the day attend classes while at night they are on the streets operating as prostitutes," he stated.
He called on youth to stop engaging in illicit sex to avoid getting infected with HIV/Aids.
The OCS added that commercial sex workers who will be found causing mayhem at nightclubs and stealing from their clients will be dealt with accordingly.
