Kinyua was hacked to death in Ugweri village as he attempted to arrest David Ikaaba who was the main suspect in the killing of Kiamaindi chief Japheth Mayau on Tuesday.

Reports on the Standard indicate that Andrew Gikinda, David Muriithi, Obadiah Kinyua and David Mugambi did not, however, take a plea since the police are yet to conclude investigations.

Runyenjes Senior Principal Magistrate Josphat Gichimu gave the police two more weeks to complete their investigations, directing that the accused be held for the 14 days.

The four were arrested in Ugweri village thanks to an ongoing operation being conducted by police officers from the General Service Unit (GSU).

The case is expected to be mentioned again on May 20.

Kiamaindi village is currently a deserted area where only police officers and journalists reign.

Locals have taken off following the deployment of GSU officers to flush out suspects in the killing of Chief Mayau, and OCS Kinyua.

Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Nyamu Kagwima has called upon officers handling the operation to assure innocent villagers of their security.

"All activities have been paralysed in almost the entire location. Security bosses need to assure villagers of their security so that they can return to their homes and continue with their normal activities," he was quoted by the Nation.
