Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has urged Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to urgently pass the county’s Supplementary Budget.
Ngilu says the delay in passing the budget is affecting the county’s service delivery.
The NARC governor wants MCAs to put politics aside and assent to the crucial budget bills that are pending before the assembly.
Speaking to journalists in Kitui Town on Friday, Ngilu said the county is likely to be grounded financially if MCAs delay to pass the supplementary budget.
“I am appealing to the MCAs to stop political squabbles and assent to the supplementary budget to enable the county to execute its services to the people,” Ngilu said.
Ngilu said some MCAs are out to cripple her government.
She claimed that some MCAs are playing 2022 politics for their own selfish interests.
“It is unfair for elected leaders to frustrate service delivery to the people who voted them to the office,” she added.
Ngilu urged the Kitui County Assembly Speaker George Ndotto to rally MCAs and pass the supplementary budget.
Led by the County Assembly Majority Chief Whip Stephen Makau, the MCAs have vowed not to pass the budget until Ngilu explains how the previous budget they passed in June was utilized.
Ngilu has been having a difficult time with a section of MCAs, majority who are from Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party.
Ngilu was elected governor on his NARC Party ticket in 2017 polls.
