Mathare Member of Parliament Anthony Oluoch had made revelations about a family meeting that preceded the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth's Saturday cremation.
Speaking on Tuesday, he claimed that a meeting was convened ahead of the legislator's Thursday requirem mass, which was also attended by his mother Anjelina Ajwang.
The lawmaker noted that it was made clear that Okoth would be cremated as per his wishes, which he alleged that the mother agreed to abide with, despite her current criticisms.
However, Oluoch said that its possible that she only accepted due to the pressure or to avoid being seen as a hindrance to Okoth's will before the people who attended the meeting.
"Mama alikuwa kwa mkutano na akakubali. Kile siwezi kuongelea sana ni kama alikubali kwa hiari ama ni pressure ilikuwa nyingi (the mother attended the meeting and agreed to the plans. I cannot however speak on whether it was willingly or out of the pressure)," he said on Radio Maisha on Monday.
He added that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on whose ticket Okoth is in office was also present at the meeting through Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
However, the mother and a section of the maternal family of the deceased have been questioning the cremation which was being pushed by his widow Monica Okoth.
The family on Monday shelved plans to bury a banana tree trunk which was to be done to symbolize his body, now that it is not there to be laid to rest.
Initially, the family was involved in a tussle with that of Okoth's father, which wanted him buried next to his father's grave in Kochia, Homa Bay county.
