Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has broken his silence over claims that he was chased out of a function that turned chaotic in Nyeri on Saturday.
The 'Kieleweke' legislator slammed members of the Tangatanga faction of the Jubilee party for lying about what transpired during the function.
"Tangatanga operatives now pushing a part of this video - which is when I was leaving the Saturday function ... and lying I was being chased out. Someone tell these guys even lies need a little intelligence," said Wambugu in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
The Saturday event which was presided over by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri turned chaotic after supporters of the Tangatanga and Kieleweke teams clashed.
The vocal MP was accompanied by several bodaboda riders to the event and upon his arrival, the meeting halted for sometime before it continued.
Wambugu had earlier rubbished claims that the over 1,000 bodaboda riders in Nyeri are part of the banned Mungiki sect, noting that it was a narrative pushed by some leaders so as to revenge what had occurred on Saturday.
"The idea behind this narrative is to ‘revenge’ because when these same leaders tried to turn a development project event in Nyeri on Saturday into a political rally, they failed," said Ngunjiri.
