The President, who is completing his second and final term in government, was presented the peacocks by Tanzanian envoy to Kenya Dr Pindi Hazara Chana.

This comes days after Uhuru ordered Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr Monica Juma and other officials to deliver Sh100 million to Tanzania following the recovery of a gold consignment made at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) last year.

State House confirmed receiving of the gifts.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning received a special gift of four peacocks from his Tanzanian counterpart H.E. @MagufuliJP. The ornamental birds were delivered by Tanzanian envoy to Kenya Dr Pindi Hazara Chana who also delivered a goodwill message from President @MagufuliJP,” read a tweet.

Uhuru later thanked Tanzania’s President for maintaining close ties with the Kenyan side. He also said that the bird will show values of love, unity as well as brotherhood.

“The President expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to H.E. President @MagufuliJP noting that the special gift signify the values of love, unity and brotherhood that exist between the people of Kenya and Tanzania," tweeted State House.

Uhuru and Magufuli have promised to work together in the war against illegal businesses.
