Otieno, who is facing fraud charges in a Sh300 million gold saga, was set free on Monday following a directive by Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The suspect was freed alongside the other 15 co-accused on different bail terms.

The suspects’ release came after they agreed to abide to the terms provided by the presiding magistrate.

Andayi ordered police to release Juliet Kathambi Kithinji, and Ricky Thomas Ochieng alias Tom Okoth on a cash bail of Sh 300,000 each.

The court also directed for the release of Albert Likole Lokundawere and Abouma Tamoua, who are both foreigners on a Sh1 million cash bail each, or a bond of a similar amount.

The suspects were ordered to deposit their passports, as well as report before the officers tasked with investigations in a fortnight,  failure to which their bonds risked cancellation.

The suspects reportedly defrauded a foreign businessman Southern Chanthavong of USD 3 million.

The suspects allegedly used fake gold boxes to trick the businessman of the said cash.
