Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has disowned the Naivasha retreat attended by 173 Ruto led allies and noted that it was not a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting.
Through a presser, Tuju said that the Naivasha retreat was not a Jubilee Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting and termed it as any other meeting initiated by some party members.
He argued that the party had no quarrels with anyone regarding the meeting as freedom of association is a constitutional right.
"For avoidance of doubt, the Naivasha retreat was not the party PG," Tuju retaliated.
He further said that such meeting cannot qualify to be called Jubilee Party meeting owing to the fact that,
"A PG meeting of the party is only valid when is convened under the article 9 and 7 of the party Constitution and chaired by the part leader, or such other person the Party leader may delegate such role of chairing. Any resolutions of any meeting not convened in accordance with the provisions of the party Constitution are therefore not official Party resolutions," read a statement by Tuju.
Tuju statement comes in awake of a two day treat held in Naivasha by 173 Ruto allies, that included; MPs, MCAs among other leaders. The leaders had deliberated on key resolutions regarding the BBI process and the need to avoid parallel rallies and drum up support for the BBI by involving the common mwananchi.
